Sneak peak at my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project 2012
So a lot has happened in the past fifteen minutes. First I got an email from one of the Foundations teachers saying that one of my teachers personally selected me to be a part a group to be sponsored by SCAD with the Sketchbook Project 2012 (http://www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject). I did the 2011 Project, but since SCAD is sponsoring the selected Foundations students, it means they will be paying for our sketchbooks and the delivery cost; also, the 2012 project will be going on an international tour this year to various cities in the U.S. along with Canada, England and Australia!
In other news, the pieces I posted a while back (the three portraits and the life-sized life drawing) were submitted to the Drawing Foundations Juried Exhibition. I just got an email saying that two of my pieces were selected! Memory (Coffee and Cigarettes) and Memory (New York Subway) are the two pieces being featured. The show will run from October 10-22 and I believe it is at Anderson Hall- the closing reception will be October 21 from 2-3pm.

It’s that time of year again — feast your eyes on the 2012 World Press Photo of the Year (above) by Samuel Aranda.
The winning photograph shows a woman caring for a wounded relative, inside a mosque used as a field hospital by demonstrators against the rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, during clashes in Sanaa, Yemen on October 15, 2011. Samuel Aranda was working in Yemen on assignment for The New York Times. He is represented by Corbis Images.
